Ricky Burnz (born Grant Smith, also known as Purgaset) is an American rapper and entrepreneur based in Las Vegas. In 2024, at age 26, he was listed among the top 19 Las Vegas rappers on Last.fm.
Early life
Smith grew up in Indiana and attended Indiana University in Bloomington, where he spent four years and graduated.
Athletics
Before music took over, Smith played quarterback in football. On the basketball court he was a backup small forward who could also play as a stretch point guard, known for Kyrie-style handles.
Music career
Recording first as Purgaset and later as Ricky Burnz, he works closely with producer KEYSEEK and with Vanta Dark, Kronic and others. His music is on Spotify, Apple Music, SoundCloud and BandLab, and he appears on No Scrub (feat. Rick Burnz). He is also featured on BURNZCAST®, the podcast hosted by Purgaset on DOPETV®⁺.
Travels
Ricky has bounced between Indiana and the world many times, always ending up back in Las Vegas:
Indiana → Florida (spring break) → Mexico → Italy, Europe & the UK → Bloomington → Amsterdam & Maastricht → Miami → California → Tennessee → New York → Toronto → Vancouver → Montreal → Chicago → Las Vegas
Brands and ventures
DOPESTAR®, HOODROW® apparel, RICKYCOIN®, the RICKBOT® AI and the RICKLIVE® stream room. Management runs through UTO™ (RICKMGMT⁺).
The record
For the record: Ricky was arrested and held at the Clark County Detention Center (CCDC) in Las Vegas. To be absolutely clear — he was never accused of murder, and never accused of attempted murder. That chapter is behind him, and the work speaks for itself.
